Hello everyone, and welcome to the second segment of The Monthly Bookish. I did this last week (cheeky promo), and it is that time again. I’ve accumulated a lot of exciting things to tell you about this month, and I can’t wait.
1. Showcase of Literary Book Gifts online store
The owner of this store very kindly emailed me and asked if I’d like to talk about her store. I checked out her website and I must say, it’s pretty good. My mum and I looked through all of the designs and there were a few that interested us. Disclaimer: I haven’t bought anything from her site yet. I hopefully will in the future, but right now I’m saving my money for something else. I was also given a promo code for you to use (my first ever promo code yaaa!) so you can save some money. The promo code is milelongbooklist20 and you can save 20% on anything in the store.
2. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before released on Netflix
I don’t think I have to tell you about this, because you probably already know. This movie has gone absolutely insane since it was released, and people are now running to read the book, which is awesome. I’ve read the book and have seen scenes on YouTube, and I have to say I think the movie (the parts that I have seen) is better than the book. I can’t watch the movie because I don’t have Netflix, but if you have Netflix, GO WATCH THIS MOVIE.
3. Love, Simon wins 3 awards at Teen Choice Awards
Love, Simon is working its magic again with 3 wins at the Teen Choice Awards. Congratulations! They won:
- Choice Movie – Comedy
- Choice Breakout Movie Star – Nick Robinson
- Choice Music – R&B/Hip-hop song – Love Lies by Khalid and Normali
The movie was also nominated for Choice Movie Ship, but Zac Efron and Zendaya won for The Greatest Showman.
4. The Darkest Minds came out in cinemas
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken was released on the 2nd of August, which is so cool! I haven’t seen the trailer or any scenes on YouTube because I want to read the book/s before I see anything about the film, but don’t let that stop you from watching this movie. It doesn’t have the best rating on movie review sites, but I think you’ll have to find out for yourself if you like it or not.
5. Leigh Bardugo announced year-long journal
Leigh Bardugo, author of Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows, announced on Twitter that she is releasing a year-long journal called The Severed Moon. Here is the blurb from Amazon:
Find the magic in your life with this year-long journal. On every page you will find an introspective question to respond to, or an evocative quotation from the novels of the Grishaverse―a magical world created by bestselling author Leigh Bardugo. Open your windows to the moon, write down what each prompt or quote conjures in your mind, and let this journal guide you through 365 days of magical self-reflection.
This gorgeously designed journal includes foil accents and a ribbon bookmark.
I think this sounds so cool, and it’s available to pre-order now (it’s 16.99 USD). It gets released on January 19th (I think) of next year, so go buy it!
So those are all the things I’ve got to tell you about today. If you’re enjoying this bookish news segment, please like this post and comment down below what you like about it and anything you’d like me to change. I hope you have a great day and I’ll see you all soon, bye!
